Pediatric physiotherapy services are provided to children from birth to 5 years of age on an out-patient basis. The focus of physiotherapy services is to facilitate normal development, address issues with balance and coordination, and provide education to the family on how to help their child maximize function. Service delivery differs from region to region, but children with orthopedic and neurological conditions are seen both individually by the physiotherapist and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Team members include pediatricians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, and audiologists. Team members work closely with other programs such as the Stan Cassidy Centre of Rehabilitation, Family and Early Childhood Services, and Autism Intervention Services. School-aged children are followed by the Child and Youth Rehabilitation Team.
