Horizon provides specialized services to seniors in various facilities. Geriatric clinics use a multi-disciplinary approach and typically include a geriatrician, a nurse, an occupational therapist, and a physiotherapist. The role of the physiotherapist is to assess any strength, balance, or mobility impairments that may impact a person’s functional independence. They provide education, exercises, and equipment recommendations to decrease a person’s risk of falling and improve physical conditioning. Therapy is provided one-on-one or in a class setting.
- When attending an appointment, be prepared to expose the affected area in a comfortable setting.
- It is best to wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the affected joint (knee, shoulder, ankle, etc.) when you come for your appointment.
- Patients can be referred by their primary care provider/surgeon for physiotherapy treatments. Patients also have the option to self-refer to our department.
